On the one hand, there is the fascinating mediaeval culture of the old city centre, on the other the many modern venues to be found in the local area. Salerno is a city to experience and discover. There is the Cathedral dedicated to Saint Matthew, the famous Arechi Castle, and the Minerva Garden, birthplace of the Salerno Medical School.
